EXTERNAL PIERCING
This includes: All parts of the ear, nostrils, septum, nipples, navel, genitalia, dermals and surface piercings.
Clean the pierce with a pure, unscented soap that is deodorant and moisturizer free by lathering both the pierce and the jewelry. You then rinse the area until all off the soap is removed. Do this 2 to 3 times every daily shower.
The pierce may secrete a fluid that will dry into a "crust" on the jewelry. this is completely normal and NOT a sign of infection. If this "crust" occurs, clean your jewelry - not your piercing - first, before you shower. Wipe the jewelry with a cotton ball or swab that is soaked in a sterile saline solution. Once the jewelry is free of debris, you are able to clean the pierce.
INTERNAL PIERCINGS:
(This includes: Tongue, lip, labret, cheek, and any mouth webbing.)
Rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash diluted with 1/2 mouthwash and1/2 water after finishing eating, smoking, or drinking anything other than water for 6 to 8 weeks. You may also use a product called GlyOxide a few times per day. Lip and cheek piercings might secrete a fluid that will dry into a “crust” on the jewelry. If this occurs, use a cotton swab dipped in H2Ocean or sterile saline to remove this accumulation. During the first few days, swelling of the pierced area is normal. Use ice directly on the pierce. you may take an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol (contact your physician for dosage and approval before starting any medication) for pain and/or swelling. Cold chamomile tea is also soothing. Avoid eating hot or spicy foods, using, straws and hard or chewy food until there is no more swelling. After the swelling has subsided, return to normal eating habits.
DOs AND DON'Ts:
Your jewelry cannot be changed until your piercing is fully healed. Changing your jewelry may result in damaging your jewelry or injuring your pierce. Check with your Warrior piercer to see if you are ready to change to a new piece of jewelry.
Clean the site with a pure, unscented, non-moisturizing soap such as: Ivory bar soap, Purpose bar soap (dermatologist recommended), or Neutrogena Glycerin Bar Soap. Lather the gem/disk with soap and rinse thoroughly. Occasionally the pierce will secrete a fluid that will dry into a “crust” onto the “gem/disk". If this accumulates, clean your jewelry before you clean your pierce by wiping the jewelry with a cotton ball soaked in HH2Ocean or a sterile saline solution. Once the jewelry is free of all debris, clean the site.
